Re: Pellegrini expects financial transfers backing again this summer
The 2bobs are notorious for having short arms and long pockets so not expecting any fireworks in the summer, remember Sullivan said the move to the cesspit will only bring us another £10m player each season.

Sorry I don't agree. This club can bring in players regardless of who we ship out. 17th richest club in the World and getting a good cash flow coming in from the stadium.
Gomez would have been an intent and for what his release clause was and his salary demands, that wasn't really unreasonable compared with the clubs around us and his accolade. Granted agents bump it up, but that's the game.

Agree we need to ship players out, but to be fair they aren't looking like good investments for any club, yet sting us for a wage.
Carroll, Pea, Perez and Arnie are all likely to be gone in the summer. We then need at least 3 strikers in to make their mark. Bringing in Gomez or any other comparable striker in Jan would have lessened the hopes of potentially 3 new players having to find form for the start of the new season.

sorry but most of that is simply not true. Pellegrini agreed to become manager in november 17 long before any of the protests or discontent you mentioned.

The gomez deal didnt break down over 80k of wages, he wouldnt have started getting paid by west ham til the summer as part of the loan deal.

As you say it is probably pellegrini's last club before retirement, so they know they wont want to piss him off with poor backing in the summer. If they lose MP they know theyll have backlash on their hands

however i do also agree on training facilities, but the club have been granted planning permission for rush green so we'll see what happens.

Oh leave it out.

You can't blame the board for Gomez.

They were told by Arnie he wanted out and then told by Pea he wanted out.

They made the right moves to line replacements up and then the Arnie move fell through. Then Valencia offered a derisory £7m for Pea which we rightly turned down and then at 9pm Chelsea announced Batshit was open for a loan move but we had no time to offload Pea by then.

As a club, we have Carroll, Perez, Pea and Arnie on the books all earning £100k+ PW. So we can't just go out and bring in more forwards on similar money. It just doesn't work like that.

I agree with you on training facilities though.

Re: Pellegrini expects financial transfers backing again this summer
I can't see Gold and Sullivan matching that ambition.

Pellegrini was brought in the appease the discontent of the previous season, and to bring fans back to loving the club. A whole marketing campaign.

The investments made is from money held back over previous seasons to create a brand and fill the pockets of the owners. New stadium, new crest, and to make the club look like the club of London.

The whole Gomez situation this recent window shows their lack of intent. Not paying £80k wages is an indication of that.
The training facilities also need an overhaul, both young and old players get far too many injuries at this club and a lot of that is down to facilities.

West Ham will possibly be Pelle's last club before retiring and if the ambition isn't there he'll just leave and settle down. These owners know that and just want to sit on the gravy train.

We should be looking at the likes of Joe Bryan at Bristol City; enormous upgrade on Masuaku and would bring pace, desire and energy

Would this be the same Joe Bryan that not only signed for Fulham in the summer but who has been decidedly underwhelming in a defensively poor team?

Not being funny mate but if that's the level of your research I'll leave it to others thanks

We have tried:

Fredericks
Hugill
Byram
Antonio
and going further back
Cresswell

Re: Pellegrini expects financial transfers backing again this summer
I think people are finally waking up to the quality that exists in the Championship.

David Brooks - Sheffield Utd to Bournemouth, class act
James Maddison - Norwich to Leicester, class act
Harvey Barnes - Loaned out to West Brom, recalled by Leicester, class act

We should be looking at the likes of Joe Bryan at Bristol City; enormous upgrade on Masuaku and would bring pace, desire and energy

Ollie Watkins at Brentford; averaged a goal every 4 games from out wide over the course of 2 seasons. Huge upgrade on Snodgrass (as much as I like him)

Jarrod Bowen at Hull. Averaged 1 in 3 from out wide in a crap side. 22 years old

I really hope we’ve learnt that you haven’t got to spent £50m and £150k a week to find good players. We could shift Obiang, Masuaku, Carroll and Snodgrass and sign all 3 of those.

Re: Pellegrini expects financial transfers backing again this summer
Young, fit, hungry , mobile players in please.
Fuck the marquee signings, lets get some real energy into the side.
As many of the old crocks out the door as possible and I'd include Willshere in that.

Re: Pellegrini expects financial transfers backing again this summer
i expect to see masuaku obiang carrol and arnie to go at least so £50m plus savings of wages means they only have to invest 70m to get decent signings in, a saving on last summer!

Re: Pellegrini expects financial transfers backing again this summer
Now I am absolutely way down the list of those offering praise to the board

But, I have read a lot of shite on here about this last window that frankly just did not happen, I have not heard a whisper from the board, MP has been the focal point of the press release detail and that was pretty clear, we sell, we replace

I'm inclined to think that we will be spending closer to £150m gross in the summer than £100m, time will tell

LeroysBoots 8:07 Tue Feb 5
Re: Pellegrini expects financial transfers backing again this summer
As I said earlier we need to get to 2 top players per position plus a group of utility players....like most of the top clubs

ludo21 7:30 Tue Feb 5
Re: Pellegrini expects financial transfers backing again this summer
We need to push on to keep players like Rice here. I see no reason why we can't spend 100m again.

Next couple of months will be very interesting. If Nasri and Lanzini show that they can still do it on a regular basis then midfield is in a pretty good shape. Wilshire is a write off but if he is able to play a dozen games next season then I guess that's a bonus!

Replace Obiang with a top notch player and I reckon we are okay in midfield.

Not the biggest fan of Antonio but he's done okay lately... him, Anderson, Snodgrass and Yarmolenko are good enough to keep us going in the right direction.

Replace Reid with another CB

Replace Carroll, Hernandez, Perez (and possibly Arnautovic) with a couple of very decent strikers and we will be doing okay.

I've never doubted there was money available, but not necessarily available to all managers. Where was it posted that Sullivan didn't trust Bilic or Moyes?

Given the success of last year's signings, supplemented by the timing (ie, early in the transfer window) you'd imagine that we could do a 'lot of replacing' and actually start 2019/20 season in a very reasonable state.

You're a 100k a week short on that estimate, then factor in players who contracts are up, they will be wanting close to parity with the £200k a week players. We need a Sheik Mansoor type who can fund this approach, our current 2 cannot.

Full Claret Jacket 3:41 Tue Feb 5
Re: Pellegrini expects financial transfers backing again this summer
This will also be a call to the players that are doubting the clubs ambition and perhaps getting cold feet. Particularly important if you are trying to keep certain players and attract others.
I think Pellegrini will look to get rid of quite a few and get more out of others.
Have to be careful there is not too much change at once though as that has seen teams struggle. I'd hope we are changing 2 or 3 first teamers at most.

Re: Pellegrini expects financial transfers backing again this summer
dealcanvey 1:49 Tue Feb 5

Just as an estimated guess I would say roughly getting rid of that lot will save us £500k in wages per week.

We could then use that to pay three absolute top drawer players top money and get in the players required.

dealcanvey 1:49 Tue Feb 5
Re: Pellegrini expects financial transfers backing again this summer
I think several players need moving on which in turn could bring money in and free up alot of wages.

Hernandez, Carroll & Reid are getting older, earning big money and not contributing enough.

They need moving on and would not be surprised if likes of Perez, Obiang, fernandes and Adrian are sold to.

We need decent young left back, centre back and keeper coming in. Pref homegrown.

Spend big money on a top striker and centre midfielder.

Dr Moose 1:45 Tue Feb 5
Re: Pellegrini expects financial transfers backing again this summer
This is what happens when you have a manager that will not tolerate Sullivan's eBay approach to buying players.
